We found a lizard in our back yard and we don’t know what to do with it. No one wants to touch it, even the cops. It’s about four feet long. I don’t want to think the worst. I hope that it just got loose and that its owner(s) are trying to find it. It’s just that occasionally where we live people will drop off pets that they no longer want. We are trying to find a home for it while the weather is still warm. Iguanas are tough, though. They bite, scratch and lash at people with their tails, which are razor sharp. We’ve called all over, trying to find someone who will take it. One of the big problems is that it won’t stay still. It’s all over the place. I’m posting this just to remind people to be compassionate when they have a pet that they can no longer keep. Try contacting your local Humane Society or SPCA or vet, or even posting an on Craig’s list. We live in Pennsylvania. This is a hot weather animal and will die when the weather turns cold.
