A few days ago I was going through my Facebook feed and saw something that has deeply haunted me. It was a photo of a dog that had been beaten, neglected and abused. The suffering and the disbelief in this animal’s eyes broke my heart. I was so upset that I immediately shut it down. That was probably a dumb move, because now when I try to retrieve it I can’t find it. It was posted by an animal rescue site that I am not familiar with, so I didn’t know whether it was legit.
I had a hard time falling asleep that night. That poor dog’s face haunted me. Why would someone do this? And how can I help? And, perhaps more importantly, how can I prevent this from happening in the future? I have no answers for this, other than to support animal rescue organizations and to work toward education of our children that this behavior is not okay.
So I am posting this to give a voice to those who have no voice. If you have an idea or solution, please share it. If you see something, please speak up.
