During this unprecedented time, there are some additional ways we can help feed those who either lack the funds or the ability to go food shopping. MSN (https://www.msn.com/) and Benevity https://www.benevity.com/ have joined together in a fundraiser that will either be split equally between three nonprofits: Feeding America; Team Rubicon: COVID-19 Response; and the CDC Foundation: Combat Coronavirus; or you may choose one of these as your preferred beneficiary. Feeding America, as you know, works to provide food for all those who find themselves in a food insecure situation. Team Rubicon is working in communities across the country to provide food for the needy as well as coordination and logistics for those in temporary quarantine, and individuals offering support for their neighbors. Donations to the CDC Foundation fund medical supplies, emergency help for US public health agencies, providing support to vulnerable communities and boosting clinical research. You can learn more about this opportunity and lend your support at (https://msn.benevity.org/community/fundraiser/338).
If you are sheltering in place, but know of a shelter or soup kitchen that can use supplies, an easy way to help is to order on Amazon and have the items delivered directly to the shelter. You can increase your effectiveness by going through AmazonSmile. It doesn’t cost you anything, and a portion of the sale goes to the charity of your choice. I selected Doctors Without Borders. I have read of their mission and I am impressed by what they do. But AmazonSmile has a multitude of other charities you can choose from.
If you use Bing as your search engine, they will make a contribution to a charity for you. This is also at no cost to you.
And you can still put a teddy bear or a heart in your window to share your love with those who pass by.
