Time to get Jazzed

Here comes the time of year when we all get the joy of giving. First and foremost, the Marines start to put out their collection boxes. All new, unwrapped toys may be deposited for distribution to less fortunate kids. I generally start collecting toys all year long, especially if I see a good price for a really nice toy. When I look at toys I think of quality over quantity. If you are unable to go to the store, you can make an online cash donation or donate a virtual toy from their website (https://www.toysfortots.org/). They even have a Facebook presence, on which you check for collection sites.

There is a really nice idea on Pinterest for making a Reverse Advent Calendar. Every week you add a different food item and by December 24 you have the makings of a nice meal. Quite honestly I don’t want someone thinking they don’t have the food they need until the last minute, so I start mine the last week of October or the first week of November. I tried printing out the Pinterest list, but found that I needed a simpler layout so that I could see everything at a glance. So here is what I came up with.

December 1Box of cereal
December 2Peanut butter
December 3Stuffing mix
December 4Boxed potatoes
December 5Mac & cheese
December 6Canned fruit
December 7Canned tomatoes
December 8Canned tuna
December 9Dessert mix
December 10Jar applesauce
December 11Canned sweet potatoes
December 12Cranberry sauce
December 13Canned beans
December 14crackers
December 15Rice
December 16oatmeal
December 17pasta
December 18Spaghetti sauce
December 19Chicken noodle soup
December 20Tomato soup
December 21Can corn
December 22Can mixed vegetables
December 23Can carrots
December 24Can green beans

And don’t forget to send cards to our shut-ins. They could use a little Christmas cheer!

Take care,

“It’s the action, not the fruit of the action, that’s important. You have to do the right thing. It may not be in your power, may not be in your time, that there’ll be any fruit. But that doesn’t mean you stop doing the right thing. You may never know what results come from your action. But if you do nothing, there will be no result.” ― Mahatma Gandhi
